I've said it before, I'll say it again, "This is a Win-Win situation for MADD". With no or VERY few arrests, they'll spout how good these Nazi-style roadblocks are at keeping drunk drivers off the street(s). When, and if there are a substantial amount of arrests, they'll just tell us that these things work,as proved by all the "Drunks" that were taken off the roadways.

"We conduct these checkpoints to enforce and to educate,"

Whew! Thank goodness their enforcing the laws they want to enforce. Lets not look at the illegal situation or "war" on drugs. They can help with a broken taillight, but don't call 911 when your home is being invaded, or if officer fife decides you may be a menace with that remote control in your hand. Cynical? You bet......

I researched this a bit and I am a little confused. What about Delaware v. Prouse, 440 U.S. 648 (1979)? Doesn't this ruling allow the police to set up checkpoints for checking licenses and registration? If they simply wanted to generate revenue by issuing these types of tickets they could do so without DUI checkpoints?
