Just last Thursday, my vehicle was outfitted with an IID manufactured by ADS (Alcohol Detection Systems). Thus far, the device has failed to function properly either not allowing me to start my car before receiving a breath sample or repeatedly instructing me to pull my car over while the vehicle is in motion before a sample is given.

After discussion with the distributor of the IID, I came to learn that he and his wife started the business 2 months ago and they both happened to be members of MADD. New legislation in Michigan is going to see the number of IID's rise exponentially in 2010. If this isn't an example of profiteering, I don't know what is.
